If only basketball was a three-quarter game, the Rock Hills Grizzlies girls basketball team would have made their deepest post season run in years. Instead they saw a 10-point lead over Osborne at the end of the third quarter vaporized in the face of a 36-14 Osborne onslaught in the fourth quarter and a 70-58 loss in the semi-final round of the 1A D sub-state bracket.
Lauren Whelchel dropped through 24 points in her final game as a Grizzly. Bethany Simmelink capped a sensational freshman year with 12 points.
` The team loses Whelchel, Selena Luong, Austyn Groote, Danica Frost to graduation. The seniors exit after having played in the first post-season win since 2010.
The Grizzlies finished with an 11-11 record under head coach Nick Mizner.
The future looks bright with a talented group of underclassmen returning for next season.
