The first annual Brodstone Big Idea was hosted by the Brodstone Foundation on Thursday, Feb. 2.
Similar to the concept of Shark Tank, Brodstone employees were encouraged to pitch their big ideas for a piece of equipment, technology, or initiative that would improve patient care at Brodstone Healthcare. Out of the 20 ideas submitted by employees, 11 finalists pitched their ideas in front of a panel of judges that included members of the Brodstone Foundation Board of Directors. Senior Leadership Team members and other employees also attended the event in support of the finalists. More than $28,000 was pledged by Brodstone Foundation to support the winning big ideas and after deliberation by the judges, six projects were funded through the event. The top six finalists included:
Spencer Trapp - handheld dynamometer & ROM all in one tool
Peg Faimon - automatic wound measuring tool
Abby Gausman - sensory busy boards for patient rooms in the BFMC
Maddie Daly - Hercules bed
Terri Shipley - FEPSim – portable complete system
TJ Siebert - Outdoor Picnic Tables
“This event was a great opportunity to hear from employees and see the creativity behind their passions” said Heather Erickson, senior director of development at Brodstone Healthcare. “We see such wonderful support by our own Brodstone employees in the form of annual giving and their commitment to our patients. It was great to be able to give back to them in this way.”
