The Nebraska Department of Environment has approved the awarding of grants to 140 projects across the state. The grants will help fund litter and waste reduction projects, recycling programs and pay costs for scrap tire cleanups and collection of household hazardous waste, electronic waste and pharmaceuticals.
Grants approved for this area include three to the Lower Republican Natural Resources Distrct for the cleanup 425 tons of scrap tires. Little Blue Natural Resources District also received three grants for the clean up of 775 tons of scrap tires and a 50 percent match for a rubber mulch project. The Nuckolls County Road Department will receive $20,270 to clean up 120 tons of scrap tires.
