County board approves contract for road shop

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson Monday. All three commissioners were present.

The board approved the purchase of a lap top computer for Wes Beguin, the Veterans Service Officer.

Michelle Bever presented the South Heartland Health District annual report. The district serves Nuckolls, Adams, Clay and Webster counties.

Bids were opened for a new building to be erected at the county road department lot in east Nelson. Three bids were received for the 54’ by 104’ building. Specifications called for a wood or steel building.

Sathhoff Construction Company, Superior, was the low bidder at $188,437. Morton Buildings bid was $230,500. Cleary Construction came in at $231,846.

A $400 grant to RC & D Trailblazers was approved. They sponsor the tire, electronic and household waste recycling events in the county.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb 21. The courthouse will be closed Monday, Feb. 20, to observe Presidents Day.
