Commissioners appoint positions on boards

On Jan. 9, Carla Waugh, Jewell county clerk, administered the oath of office to Ed Duskie, county commissioner, with Marcia Duskie present.

The Jewell County Commissioners Brent Beck, Keith Roe, and Ed Duskie met later with Carla Waugh present.

Steve Greenewas appointed to the Jewell County Hospital Board of Trustees, replacing Lila Frost.

Brent Beck was appointed chairman of the board for 2023.

Keith Roe was appointed vice chairman for 2023.

The Jewell County Record was designated as the official county newspaper.

All banks in Jewell County were designated as official depositories.

Ed Duskie was appointed as Jewell County’s representative for the Juvenile Justice Authority-Community Corrections Advisory Board.

Brent Beck was named Jewell County’s representative for the North Central Kansas Regional Juvenile Detention Facility.

Keith Roe was reappointed as Jewell County’s representative for the North Central Regional Planning Commission Board.

Per K.S.A. 19-204 the commissioners reviewed commissioner districts based on current population. It was determined to retain the current districts.

Joel Elkins, general superintendent, discussed personnel and road and bridge maintenance.

Kevin Peroutek and Don Jacobs joined the meeting. Laura Leite, Cottonwood Consulting, telephoned to discuss the U.S. Department of the Treasury – Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Fund (LATCF).

Brent Beck was appointed Jewell County’s alternate representative for the North Central Regional Planning Commission Board.
