L-N girls split a pair

It was feast or famine for the Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team for the two games they played Thursday and Friday.

The Raiders cruised pass Giltner, 50-25, at Giltner Thursday. McCool Junction arrived in Nelson Friday to administer a 55-29 spanking to Lawrence-Nelson.

The Raiders held Giltner to single digit scoring numbers for all four quarters of the game. Lawrence-Nelson took a 25-12 lead into the third quarter and never looked back as they recorded their third win of the season. McCool Junction show no mercy to the Raiders, jumping out to a 28-11 lead and strolling to a 55-29 win. A short-lived Raider rally in the third quarter was extinguished by a 21 point fourth quarter onslaught from McCool Junction. The loss left the Raiders with a 3-7 record for the season.

The Raiders visited Mankato, Tuesday, for a game with Rock Hills. Game results were unavailable at press time.

Kara Menke racked up 20 points to lead the Raider scoring effort against Giltner. Sydney Biltoft and Katelyn Mazour put through six points apiece. Jessica Sole and Emily Troudt added four points each. Addi McCloskey score two points. McCloskey pulled down nine rebounds. Menke landed eight rebounds for the Raiders. Hanna Skinner accounted for six rebounds. Mazour snagged four rebounds. Josie Hajny and Sole grabbed two rebounds apiece. Harley Beale had a rebound.

Menke dropped in 11 points to lead the scoring against McCool Junction. Mazour netted six points. Skinner tallied five points. Sole hit for three points. Biltoft scored two points. Menke reeled in eight rebounds. Troudt came away with seven rebounds. Skinner slipped away with five rebounds. Hajny, McCloskey and Skinner each contributed a rebounds.

The Raiders host Kenesaw at Nelson Friday. Lawrence-Nelson visits Axtell for a game Saturday. The Deshler Dragons visit Nelson Tuesday.
