Community Center to get new flooring

The Jewell City Council met last Tuesday at City Hall. Those in attendance were Darrell Bohnert, mayor; Council members, Josh Burks, Derek Birdsell and Bob Freeman and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

Don Jacobs, the Jewell County sheriff, said there were no new updates for the month.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present and said he talked to residents about parking semi trucks on non-truck route roads.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson mentioned getting a cabinet for maintenance folders. She said the community center is getting new flooring this month. She gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of January.

David Knappert was absent and submitted a written monthly maintenance report. Knappert wrote about the projects he is currently working on.

Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last meeting.

Mayor Bohnert said the city was awarded $6,700 from Jewell County Community Foundation for the improved handicap accessibility at Emerson Lake. Bohnert talked about getting a pad and sidewalk work at Maag Park.

Anderson presented the TRF loan payment that is due in February. It was approved. Bohnert mentioned getting a light for the cross at Emerson Lake.

Bohnert mentioned that Loomis wanted to paint the community center big room before the new floor was put in.
