Elizabeth “Beth” Carol Standley, 62, died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022 at Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center, Kansas.
Beth was born March 10, 1960, in Beloit, Kansas, the daughter of Robert “Bob” Kindler and Milton and Charlotte (Keller) Detwiler.
Beth enjoyed being outdoors working in her large flower and vegetable gardens, and canning vegetables from her garden. She was active with her children in 4-H and enjoyed taking care of the goats, sheep and chickens. Beth was a phenomenal cook and cooked for more than 25 plus years for hospitals, nursing homes and a day care facility. She had commented her favorite job ever was being the cook for the new day care that opened this past year in Smith Center. Beth loved her family and spent as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, mom, dad, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her biological father, Robert “Bob” Kindler; a brother, Dustin Kindler; and a nephew, Ryan Struckoff.
Beth is survived by her parents, Milton and Charlotte Detwiler of Kensington; five children, Valerie Standley of McCall, Idaho, Kimberly Standley of Beloit, Brandon Standley of Smith Center, Bryce Standley of Osborne and Tristen Standley of Smith Center; seven siblings, Theresa (Lance) McDowell of Wichita, Bobbi (Justin) Basart of Stockton, Nicki (Darren) Grauerholz of Kensington, Joshua (Esther) Detwiler of Raleigh, N.C., Jennifer (Don) Dodds of Kensington, Cory Kindler of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Emi Fuentes of Colby; two grandchildren, Jayden and Jaxson Standley both of McCall, Idaho.
Her funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, with Pastor Lance McDowell officiating. Burial took place in the Esbon Cemetery, Esbon, Kansas. Memorials may be given to the Elizabeth C.
