Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday.

It was the final meeting for Kenneth Rempe as he will be replaced by Jerry Grove representing District 1.

The board approved an inter-local agreement with the Bostwick Irrigation District for a bridge replacement project at Bostwick.The two entities are sharing the costs of the replacement structure. The board approved a resolution to allow the installation of stop signs at the east and west corners of Road 4700 and K, Road 3100 and L and 2800 and Q. The board was informed a grant for more than $20,000 was approved by the Trailblazer NRD for a tire recycling event. This will be the second consecutive year for the event.

The Board met as the Board of Equalization and approved tax exemption foe vehicles owned and operated by non-profit agencies and churches.

The board approved the appointment of Josh Grummert as the county surveyor.

The board approved a contract between Nelson and the sheriff’s department to provide law enforcement coverage.

The courthouse will close at noon Friday. The courthouse will be closed Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2 as well.

The oath of office will be administered to all elected county officials at 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5. The board will meet after the swearing in ceremony for a regular meeting.
