Wayne “Tank” Marget, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Webster County Community Hospital.
Wayne was born May 25, 1948, at York, to George Marget and Lota (Robinson) Marget. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1967 and enlisted in the Air Force in October of that same year. Wayne was proud of his years of service in the military and received an honorable discharge in 1971.
Until his retirement in 2010, Wayne was employed at Johnson Concrete selling concrete cattle tanks to feed yards. Prior to that he was a feed salesman and elevator manager. In addition to being a member of the VFW, he belonged to the Cowles American Legion Post 116 where he was commander in 1987 and adjutant from 1981 to 83. Wayne also belonged to the Red Cloud Bowling League for six years and was on the Red Cloud school board. He enjoyed working at the Speed Bowl race track.
In later years, Tank liked the challenge of small engine repair. The last couple of years he found his passion in fishing, but mostly he enjoyed visiting with people.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, Tony Wehnes; and nieces, Jessica (McDole) Thompson and Celia McDole.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Yolanda; his children, Melissa Westbrook of Kensington, Kansas and Angela Marget, Hutchinson, Kansas; sisters, Nancy Beck of Claflin, Kansas, Ruth Oellerich of Davenport, and Jane Wehnes of Bennet.
His funeral was at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud with the Rev. Dan Benedict officiating. Interment was in the Red Cloud Cemetery.
