Sue Rose

Sue Ellen Rose, the daughter of Homer and Emma (Engel) Hoff, was born June 21, 1946, At McCook. She died on Nov. 20, 2022, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton where she had resided briefly at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 29 days.

Sue spent her early years in Wauneta, and graduated from the Wauneta Public Schools. She continued her formal education attending Kearney State College where she earned both her bachelor and master’s degrees. She was united in marriage with Jerry Rose on Nov. 30, 1973, in Superior. Sue taught elementary school in Superior for 35 years and then three years at the Lawrence-Nelson school.

In their leisure time, Sue and Jerry looked forward to time at Lovewell Lake and at their HC Ranch in Hayes County, Nebraska near Wauneta. She later helped at the ranch on several occasions when her nephews, Lane, began renovation there.

Sue was an active and faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Superior and had a wonderful relationship with God. She was also active in other educational and local clubs including Craft Club and the Coffee Group. She possessed a number of interests in her spare time including playing cards, crafting, going to casinos and many outings with close friends and family.

Preceding her in death were her husband; her parents; a sister, Ann Prior; and stepson, Kevin Rose.

Left to treasure her memory are her sister, Kay, and Ronald Keith Christenson of Clay Center, Nebraska; Lane and Teresa Christenson of Kansas City, Kansas, Cole and Clay; Dakin and Britta Christenson of Houston, Texas, Nicola and Sophia; brother-in-law, Ronald Prior, Mark and Diana Prior, Mallory, Addison and Tucker all of Searcy, Arkansas; granddaughter, Ashley and Tyler Wit of Chester, Nebraska, Grace and Lillian; and many friends and other relatives.

Her funeral will be held at 11 am., Friday, at the First United Methodist Church in Superior, with the Rev. Natalie K. Faust officiating.
