Love my crazy life

Here I am, last minute, sitting down to write about this week’s Crazy Life. Tuesday morning when George told me goodbye, he said, if you go anywhere today, please be careful. I took one look outside, and my decision to stay home held firm. The only plan for the day was to cover the drafty windows with plastic.

We made it to California and back again. It’s all a blur, and it feels like I dreamt rather than experienced it. Flying wasn’t all that bad, although I felt like a sardine shoved into a tin can. Given a choice, I still prefer to drive because I like seeing the landscape and having the option to stop and explore.

Marine Corps graduation was interesting, with lots of walking. On Family Day, we walked more than eight miles. We got to meet Jacob’s drill instructor on Wednesday evening. I was hoping to hear some good stories on the kid, but no, just like parent-teacher conference, I was told he was a good kid. Thankfully Jacob spilled the beans on himself, and he said he did a lot of pushups! LOL!

Both my boys were home for Thanksgiving. Saturday, we all headed to see Jack and Nicholas in Omaha. We went out for lunch and did a little shopping in the mall. Robert headed back Sunday evening, and I took Jacob to the airport on Monday.

You would think by now I would be good at saying goodbye to my kids because, way back when, the courts had given their dad every spring break, summer break and winter break for visitation, and it was no picnic. It’s still no walk in the park letting them go.

Currently, I feel as if I am on autopilot. I’m exhausted and am still recuperating from being fed “surprises” while traveling. Everyone who said I would have no problems finding something to eat in California has never stayed on a military training base, but I lived to complain about it, so that’s all that matters, right?

I hope this finds all of you happy, healthy and enjoying life. X’s & O’s.
