Lawrence Community Club busy in December
As Fall comes to a close, it finds the Lawrence Community Club busy with winter events.
The Tour of Homes will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 3. Preston and Lacey Hild, Jordan and Samantha Juranek, Brett and Makenzie Kohmetscher and Don and Dee Kohmetscher will graciously open their homes to visitors. The cost is only $15. See the ad in the paper for more information. There are many craft shows and other activities in the area so load up the car with family and friends and make a fun day of it.
On Wednesday, Dec. 7, Goodwill Industries will be bringing a trailer that will sit on Main Street until Dec. 14. Clean out that closet and purge the toy box, Santa is coming and this is a great opportunity to donate those unused items. Please refrain from bringing furniture, televisions, mattresses and large appliances.
The Community Club is also sponsoring Santa’s Visit to Lawrence at 4 p.m., on Sunday, Dec. 11, at the American Legion. Santa will be available to hear all the requests, have a treat for the youngsters and then they can decorate a cookie courtesy of Mrs. Claus.
Membership letters were sent out along with information on new playground equipment for the swimming pool park. A Ten Spin merry-go-round, new teeter totters and new swings are on the wish list. As a college project, Trevor Gordanier of Deweese held a soup dinner a couple weeks ago that netted more than $1,200 for the playground. Thank you to Trevor and all those who have sent in their membership and donated. With the cost of the equipment more than $10,000, it is not too late to make a donation.
