Challenge grants met, Auditorium has another $100,000 for improvements

Auditorium-Community Center enters the Holidays celebrating

With Thanksgiving here and Christmas following right behind, the Superior Auditorium-Community Center has plenty to celebrate with planned events and a big announcement!

The volunteer group working on behalf of the auditorium are sharing they have met the $30,000 challenge match issued to alumni and community supporters by Julie (Hill) Allison. Alum, Gary Crook offered to match up to $10,000 over and above the initial challenge.

The auditorium committee is excited to report that both challenges have been met. More than 90 Superior High School classes, alums, businesses, individuals and fundraising events combined to raise nearly $50,000 to date. In addition to a strong and loyal group of community donors, alums from Nebraska and across the country (Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, etc.) combined to reach the goal.

The common sentiment from all who donated is a love for their hometown and pride in being a part of preserving the auditorium because of its prominent place in Superior's rich history. Funds donated have allowed for purchase of some round tables for events as well providing the ability to expand programing for the community. Those events included meals and entertainment in the "Holiday Series" on four Sundays in November and December. The remaining dates are December 4-baked potato bar meal, cookie decorating and holiday photos with Santa; and at 5:30 p.m., on December 11, a freewill concert with the Reed family.

Tickets have only been on sale several days for January's big event; a concert by Elvis Impersonator, Joseph Hall! That concert is scheduled for 7 p.m., on Jan. 20. More information and the ability to purchase tickets is available on the Facebook page "Superior Auditorium Community Center" or by contacting committee members.

In addition to these special events, many other things happen nearly daily at the building...walking, boot camp, Tai Chi and dance classes. It seems there are activities for all ages and interests.
