Steven Eugene Frum, 78, son of Joseph and Violet (Schade) Frum, was born on Dec. 8, 1943, in Shelby, Iowa. He grew up in the Omaha area and attended Westside District 43 and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, he went to Omaha University for 1 year.
On June 7, 1964, Steven was united in marriage to Joan Webber in Webber, Kan. To this union four children were born: Pamela, David, Susan and Brandy. Steve worked throughout his life at various different jobs including: Shavers Food Mart, a cookie salesman and at United AG Warehouse.
Steve raised and butchered rabbits, around 500 per week, and would sell them to local grocery stores. He spent the most time running the Dairy Queen Restaurant in Denison, Iowa.
Steve was a horseman his entire life, beginning with his courtship with Joan, to riding 50 mile endurance races, 50 mile competitive trail rides, roping calves and Ride and Tie races, and holding Shelby Saddle Clubs Horse Play Days. Eventually, his dream of owning his own racehorse became a reality and he raced many horses over the years.
In his free time he enjoyed golfing, traveling to watch his racehorses and supporting his grandchildren in all their activities.
On Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, Steven died at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Violet; daughter, Brandy; and brother ,Jack.
Survivors are his wife, Joan Frum of Shelby, Iowa; children, Pamela Woodward of Hinton, Iowa; David Frum of Earling, Iowa; Susan Paulsen of Avoca, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Barry Frum of Crescent, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
