Time marches on (or so the old saying goes) and the history books get a little bigger.
The 2022 election year is now over and it is time for those involved as candidates, or workers to sit back and live with the consequences.
1,616 of the 3,405 registered voters in Nuckolls County made their mark known Tuesday, Nov. 8. This was a 47 percent figure. Across the state of Nebraska the average number of registered voters who voted was 54 percent.
The figures reported here are from the Nebraska Secretary of State Election Site for Nuckolls County. They are in no particular order. Figures still have to be verified by county and state officials.
L-N School Board: (top three elected) Ryan Schroer 424, Alicia Kucera 314, David Theer 311, Colby Fox 300, Cole Epley 255, David Ochsner 233.
Nelson: Mayor: (one elected) Arlan Drudik 138, Teraesa Bruce 58.
Nelson: City Council: (two elected) Doug Porter 164, Chris Corman 147.
Lawrence: Village Board: (two elected) Larry Mazour 83, Joseph Kathman 96, Kyle Faimon 90.
Congressional District No. 3: Adrian Smith 1,325; David Else 179; Smith won in Nuckolls County with 82 percent of the vote. Across the entire district he won by 78 percent of the vote.
Governor of Nebraska: 79 percent of Nuckolls County voters approved of Jim Pillen for the new governor with 1,276 voting for him.
State Offices: For all the state offices on the ballot, the Republican candidate all had easy victories.
Nuckolls County Commissioner, Dist. No. 1: (one elected) Jerry Grove 276, Ken Rempe 166.
Nuckolls County Commissioner, Dist. No. 3: (one elected) Tim Zikmund 591.
All of the Nuckolls County elected officials had only one name on the ballot and all were elected:
Assessor: Susan Rogers 1,446; Attorney: John Hodge 1,380; Clerk: Carrie Miller 1,449; Clerk of District Court: Royce Gonzales 1,454; Sheriff: Bradley Baker 1,426; Treasurer: Tami Sharp 1,443.
Nebraska Legislative Dist. No. 38: (one elected) Dave Murman 1,173; Tyler Cappel 233.
State Board of Education, Dist. No. 5: (one elected) Kirk Penner 848, Helen Raikes 413. Across the district, Penner won with 55 percent of the vote (42,587 to 35,095 votes).
University of Nebraska Board of Regents, Dist. No. 6: Paul Kenney 763, Julie Hehnke 434. Mr. Kenney also appears to have won the District No. 6 vote with 54 percent of the vote.
SCPPD No.5: (one elected) Philip Wehrman 340.
Nora: Village Board: (three elected) Brad Bargen 10, Amber Epley 1, Robert Williams 9, ‘Write in totals 8. (Unknown results for this reporter)
Oak: Village Board: (two elected) Craig Lowery 16, Gregory Stichka 13.
Ruskin: Village Board: (two elected) Nikki Drohman 39, Write-in totals 18. (Unknown results for this reporter)
Constitutional Amendments: In Nuckolls County voters agreed with allowing air ports to spend money; they agreed with the idea of requiring ID’s to vote, but disapproved with the idea of raising the state minimum wage.
The figures below are state totals:
No. 1: Authorize local governments to spend money to attract commercial air service: 79 percent to allow; 21 percent to keep current limits.
Initiative No. 432: Require a photo I D to vote: To require such I D: 66 percent; Do not require I D: 34percent.
Initiative No. 433: Raise state minimum wage to $15 by 2026: For 58.5 percent; Against: 41.5 percent.
