Parthena Sidlo

Parthena Mae Sidlo was born Feb. 25, 1941, to Ora and Alwilda Baldwin Ross at the family homestead four miles south of Montrose. Parthena was the only child born to Ora and Alwilda. Growing up, she liked being active on the farm especially with the care of the animals.

When Parthena started first grade, she went to school in Burr Oak, continuing there through sixth grade. She then attended seventh thru twelfth grades in Guide Rock, graduating with the Class of 1959.

Parthena was married to Duaine Sidlo on Oct. 1, 1961, at the Inavale, Methodist Church. One daughter, Robyn Leigh, was born to this union. Duaine and Parthena celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2011.

In 1970, Parthena began working at the Sprague Nursing Home. She worked for 40 years there before retiring, serving in many different roles from nursing to kitchen to laundry. Her goal was to meet the residents’ needs while providing them the dignity and respect they deserved.

Parthena Sidlo died Oct. 18, at her home in Red Cloud. A private graveside service with burial of cremains was held Oct. 21, 2022, at the Red Cloud Cemetery.

Parthena was preceded in death by her husband, Duaine Sidlo in 2015; and her parents, Ora and Alwilda Ross.

Surviving her are her daughter RobynShuda; granddaughters; a grandson; and 10 great-grandchildren.
