Kathryn “Kathy” Marie Peterson, 87, of Edgar, died Oct. 25, 2022, at Harvard Rest Haven in Harvard, Nebraska.
Kathy was born May 9, 1935, to Leon and Emma (nee Duffey) Thomas in Ogallala. She grew up and attended school in Ogallala with her four brothers, Howard, Bill, Jim and Mike, and a sister, Jeanette. Kathy was united in marriage to Dale I. Peterson on Aug. 25, 1952. The couple was blessed with seven children, five girls and two boys. Dale and Kathy moved all over Nebraska as Dale had many different teaching careers. They later moved to Edgar where they would permanently call home. She was a long time employee at Kinnison’s grocery store, Mac’s Place Bar & Grill, and the Rose Brook Care Center, all in Edgar.
She served her community for many years as an EMT. She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese and a longtime member of the Edgar bowling league.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Howard, Bill, Jim and Mike; sister, Jeanette; daughter, Julie Thompson; former spouse Dale Peterson, and great-granddaughter, Elliana Thompson.
Survivors are her children, Susy Doyan of Omaha; Rodger Peterson of Juniata; Pam Hemji of Juniata; Cheryl Schultz of Juniata; Johnny Peterson of Edgar; and Angie Beck of Edgar; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was held Oct. 28, at the Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Deweese with Fr. Jamie Hottovy officiating.
Burial was in the Edgar Cemetery.
