Superior Auditorium becoming a busy venue

Auditorium Community Center hosts Community Activities

You don’t have to travel out of town this week to participate in a variety of activities! Friday, Nov. 11, the community is invited to come together to honor our veterans. The Superior Auditorium will be hosting a Veteran’s Day program from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend a short patriotic program and a light meal. There is no admission, and the meal is free will donation.

On Friday, Nov. 11, the Superior High School will have a Veterans Day breakfast at 8:30 a.m., in the high school library. At 10 a.m., they will have a Veterans Day program in the high school gymnasium.

Following the meal, the building will be reset for the Saturday evening concert featuring the Talmage Quartet. The quartet will present a program of four-part harmonies backed by a five piece band. Everything from southern gospel to contemporary melodies will be included in their program. Admission will be by free will donation. The concert is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A former Superior resident, Duane Morris, serves as the group’s publicity manager.

The concert will the first opportunity for community use of the padded chairs that were donated earlier this year. The 100 chairs were a gift by Donna (Lovewell) Wood and arrived this spring. Seating in that section will be on a first come first served basis.

Sunday morning, vendors will be arriving for the first “Holiday Market.” The “Market” will open for business at noon and close at 5 p.m. There is an admission of $1 and children 2 and under are free. The event is patterned after the popular “Market” held the Saturday of Vestey Days. Registrations have been arriving daily and it looks as though the vendors will fill all the space available. There are a wide variety of items being offered, perfect for some early holiday shopping. The Sunday event will offer a sloppy joe lunch for purchase.

The Holiday Market is being planned to coincide with the SYAA youth basketball league to provide activities and a meal option for families between games at the school gyms. SYAA’s league is played Sunday afternoons in November and December. The 13th is the only date “Holiday Market” vendors will be present.

These activities are part of what’s being called the “2022 Holiday Series” featuring different activities and meal options each weekend. An ad in this paper provides more details on upcoming Sundays.
