Roads department asked to approve 3 stop sign locations

Nuckolls County Board

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday. All three commissioners were present.

Jeff Wagner, the county highway superintendent, reported he had submitted three stop sign proposals to the state highway department. If approved, stop signs would be installed on the east and west corners of Road Q and 2800, Road L and 3100 and Road K and 4700.

Jim Bolte, foreman, reported a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck has a rusted through frame and is no longer serviceable. The department intends to enforce the state statutes requiring landowners to mow their ditches and not plant crops in the right of way.

Pledged securities requests from Vicki Ensign, county treasurer, were approved. She also presented distress warrants for uncollected personal property taxes. These warrants authorize the county sheriff to collect the unpaid funds.

The courthouse will be closed Friday in observance of Veterans Day.
