With the arrival of November, the Superior Chamber of Commerce has begun a series of Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday promotions designed to stress the importance of shopping local.
The first promotion to launch this year is the annual Superior Bucks giveaway. Participating Superior merchants are now making available registration slips for the five Superior Bucks drawings.
On Mondays, Nov. 21 and 28 and December 5, the names of four winners of Superior Bucks will be drawn. Each winner (a total of 12) will receive bucks valued at $50. On Monday, Dec. 12, four winners will each be awarded bucks valued at $100. The big drawing will be at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19. At that time, one person will receive bucks valued at $500.
Winners need not be present for the drawings which will be broadcast live over KRFS radio at 9 a.m.
A Christmas Lantern decorating contest is now underway with the proceeds going to the Hope Pregnancy Center.
On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Holiday Market will be open at the Superior Auditorium. Potential vendors may contact the chamber office for more information.
The Superior Ambassadors are sponsoring a Christmas lighting contest. Nominations should be submitted to [email protected] by Dec. 10.
Candy Cane Lane opens on Friday, Nov. 25. Indications are that it will be bigger and brighter than ever. Additional volunteers are needed to assist with the set up, tear down and operation of the feature annually thousands of visitors.
Retailers will participate in the National Shop Small event on Saturday, Nov. 26.
The year annual Once Upon a Christmas event will be held on Friday, Dec 9. Santa Claus is expected to visit.
