Agnes G Britten, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Hageman) Kimminau, was born on May 13, 1925, in St. Leo, Kan. She died Oct. 14, 2022, at her home in Superior, Neb., at the age of 97 years, 5 months, 1 day.
On Sept. 7, 1948, Agnes was united in marriage to Elmer Britten at St. Stephen's Catholic Church south of Lawrence. To this union three sons were born. She helped her husband on the farm while raising her family. In 1969, they moved to Superior where they made their home. She was employed at Superior Schools as a cook for many years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 53 years and the Altar Society.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary; her husband, Elmer, on April 20, 1999; son, Frank: brothers, William, Fred, Felix, Edward and Leo; and sisters, Cecilia Lemke and Mary Vrchota.
Survivors include her sons, Richard (Tia) of Brady, Neb., and Dan of Superior; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Megrue-Price Funeral Home
Her funeral is at 10:30 a.m., today (Thursday) Oct. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Superior, Neb., with the Rev. Ferdinand Boehme officiating. A Rosary service will be at 10 a.m., before the funeral.
Music was "Here I Am Lord," "Lord Accept the Gifts We Offer, "Amazing Grace," How Great Thou Art," with Arnold Miller and Teresa Sullivan as song leaders and Jacki Porter as the organist.
Interment will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Lawrence, Neb.
Memorials are suggested to go to the St. Joseph's Altar Society.
