Lincoln Park dedication
Last October this area was shocked when a shooting spree at the Agrex elevator left three people dead. This week, members of the community are invited to attend a dedication service in Lincoln Park remembering the lives of two of the deceased.
The families of Darin Koepke and Sandy Nelson have paid for the addition of a memorial in Lincoln Park that they hope will be known as the Garden of Peace.
The garden includes a fountain, lights, benches and a variety of plantings which are expected to grow. Professionally designed, one of the goals was to provide a low maintenance memorial in memory of their loved ones.
It is fitting that the memorial be placed in Lincoln Park as Sandy’s grandparents once lived in the park and her grandfather was the park’s caretaker. It was also a place where she frequently went to eat her lunch on days she was working in the elevator office as a grain merchandiser.
The dedication service is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
