Scouting 4 Food drive this weekend

It’s time for the annual “Scouting 4 Food” drive in support of the Nuckolls County Food Pantry. The Superior Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts are joining forces to collect donations for the pantry on Saturday and Sunday.

Scout members will begin hanging empty bags at 9 a.m., Saturday, on the doors of all residences throughout Superior. A note attached to the bag outlines the most pressing needs.

The scouts ask donors to check the expiration dates on all donations to ensure they are viable.

Scouts will pick up the bags, Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m. Place the bags where they are visible from the streets.

Items in the most demand are canned green beans, corn, pork and beans, instant potatoes, Jell-o, pudding, cereal, canned soup, mixed vegetables, stuffing, canned fruit, ketchup, syrup, pancake mix, crackers, peanut butter, grape jelly, spaghetti sauce and pasta.

Personal hygiene products, such as soap, shampoo, toothpaste and other items, are also needed.

If one is unable to participate, the pantry also accepts monetary donations to supplement donated supplies.

Scouting 4 Food is one of the biggest events of the year for replenishing the food pantry shelves.
