Jason (DR) Rung, 47, of Lincoln, Neb., died unexpectedly on Oct. 2, 2022. Jason was born on June 30, 1975, in Geneva, Neb. He graduated from Geneva High School and Southeast Community College in Milford. He married Jean-
nie Herbek on Aug. 14, 1999. They, along with their dogs, reside in Lincoln. Jason was employed as a managing partner- store manager at Firestone Auto Care in Lincoln, Neb., and had been part of the Firestone family for 26 years.
Jason was an avid golfer and enjoyed many sports, especially Husker football. Jason enjoyed time on or around a lake. He had developed a love for cooking and grilling and enjoyed time with family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, "Dog Dad," son, brother, uncle, co-worker and friend.
Jason is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeannie; his pups; parents, Doug and Billie Rung; sister, Lisa Rung and significant other, Dustin Dawley; nephews, Heath and Chase Boman; niece, Chelsa Dawley; mother-in-law, Carolyn and Ray Mazour; sister and brother-in-laws and their families: Connie and Paul Herz, Barb and Jon Bergmeier, Pam and Tim O'Dey, Donna and Russ Faimon, Lynette and Wade Finley, Jill (deceased) and Mike Voorhees and other uncles and cousins.
Services and visitation will be held at Butherus, Masur & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln, Neb. His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 10.
Visitation was from 12 to 7 p,m., Sunday. The family was present from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Visitation was followed by a celebration of life at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb., from 5 to 9 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the family for a charitable donation to be made in Jason's memory at a later date.
