SHS football loses to Sandy Creek

The Superior High School football team is still in search of that elusive first win as they fell to the Sandy Creek Cougars 48-6 at Sandy Creek Friday. The loss left Superior with an 0-5 record for the season.

Sandy Creek took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led 12-0 at the end of the first quarter. Superior was not out of the game when the half rolled around as they only trailed 19-6. The Cougars came out roaring in the third quarter and put the game out of reach with two touchdowns to lead 32-6 as the teams headed into the final 12 minutes of play. Sandy Creek scored two more touchdowns to seal their 46-6 win.

Aiden Humphries completed two of 10 pass attempts for 15 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Allgood was on the receiving end of the 14 yard Humphries touchdown pass. Kyler Boyles made on catch for one yard.

Boyles carried the ball 18 time for 98 yards. Humphries picked up 42 yards with his 16 carried. James Love covered 37 yards on his 12 carries. Jacob Meyer picked up six yards on two carries. Tyler Éverhart netted four yards on two carries. Allgood rushed for two yards with his lone carry. Cristian Avalos was held to negative six yards on two carries.

Love recorded seven solo tackles and five assisted tackles for the game. Meyer landed five solo tackles and added four assisted tackles. Luke Jameson made three solo tackles and had an assist. Allgood hit two solo tackles and had three assisted tackles. Boyles nailed a solo tackle and assisted with five tackles. Roscoe Baumbach landed a solo tackle and had four assisted tackles. Tate Streit had a solo tackle and an assist. Everhart nabbed a solo tackle. Henry Griljava contributed a solo tackle. Seth Griljava added an assisted tackle.

The Wildcats travel to Henderson, Friday, for a game with the 3-2 heartland Huskies. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
