RHHS volleyball drops two games at home triangular

The Rock Hills High School volleyball team hosted a triangular match at Mankato last Tuesday. The Grizzlies fell to Lakeside 16-25 and 23-25, in two sets. Long time nemesis St. John’s-Tipton swept the Grizzlies 14-25 and 16-25, in two sets. Rock Hills played a triangular match with Pike Valley and Sylvan-Lucas at Scandia Tuesday with match results unavailable at press time.

Lauren Whelchel was the top Rock Hills killer against Lakeside with 5. Danica Frost added four kills. Halle Mizner and Aubree Whelchel had two kills apiece. Hannah Simmelink had a kill. Frost and A. Whelchel each scored with an ace. Simmelink accounted for five digs. A. Whelchel took care of four digs. Austyn Groote and Mizner handled three digs each. Frost had two digs while Simmelink had one.

Frost and A. Whelchel led the Rock Hills killers against St. John’s-Tipton with three each. Groote had two kills. Mizner and A. Whelchel notched a kill apiece. Haley Garst and A. Whelchel each scored with an ace serve. Simmelink led the diggers with four. Garst, Groote and A. Whelchel contributed three digs each. Frost added two digs. Selena Luong and Mizner had a dig apiece.

The Grizzlies host the Rock Hills Tournament at Mankato Saturday. Other teams competing at the event are Pike Valley, Thunder Ridge and St. John’s-Tipton.
