RHHS volleyball goes 3-1

It was a productive week for the Rock Hills High school volleyball team. The Grizzlies downed Glasco 25-14, 12-25 and 26-24, in three sets at the Tescott triangular last Tuesday. They followed up with a two-set, 25-14 and 25-14, sweep of host Tescott. Rock Hills was back in Tescott Saturday for the Tescott Tournament. The Grizzles won their match, against Wilson, 20-25, 25-12 and 26-24, in three sets. They fell to Eli-Saline, 11-25 and 5-25, in two set. The Grizzlies hosted St. John’s-Tipton and Lakeside for a triangular match at Mankato Tuesday. Match results were unavailable at press time.

Aubree Whelchel led the killers against Glasco with four. Danica Frost and Lauren Whelchel listed three kills each. Hannah Simmelink added two kills. Austyn Groote, Haley Garst and Halle Mizner added a kill apiece. Groote ripped through three aces. Garst slashed through two aces. Garst, Mizner and Simmelink each scored with an ace. Selena Luong landed eight digs. Groote joined in with seven digs. Aubree Whelchel put away five digs. Garst and Simmelink handled three digs apiece. Ally Beck had two digs. Frost and Simmelink had a dig apiece.

Frost and L. Whelchel slammed down three kills each against Tescott. Mizner and A, Whelchel notched two kills apiece. Groote and Simmelink had a kill each. Frost string lined through two aces. Luong and Simmelink scored with an ace apiece. Frost and Groote collected six digs each. Luong chimed in with five digs. Mizner, Simmelink and Whelchel put away two digs each.

Statistics for the Eli-Saline and Wilson matches were unavailable at press time.

The Grizzlies visit Scandia, Tusday, for a triangular match with Pike Valley and Sylvan-Lucas.
