Buyers present for all properties on county's delinquent tax sale

A vacant lot at 55 W. 4th Street, Nelson, was sold to Logan and Katie Schnitker for $1,600. A lot and house at 445 E. 4th Street, Nelson, was sold to Bobby Bardon for $9,000.

Several Superior properties were offered at the auction. Bardon bid $5,000 for the house and lot located at 615 Bloom Street, Superior. The City of Superior purchased a vacant lot at 827 E. 3rd Street, Superior, for $500 and vacant lot at 826 N. Central Avenue for $100. A vacant lot located at 747 E. 3rd Street was sold to Kenny Apfelbeck for $600. Cassandra Morrow purchased a vacant lot at 1117 Commercial Avenue for $150.

Matthew and Paul Schafer purchased the house and lot at 402 Beacon Street, Hardy, for $1,875.

With the sale of the properties, the back taxes are removed from the county tax rolls.

In some instances, the buyers held a lien against the property. In other cases the buyers owned property adjacent to the sale property.

None of these sales are finalized until confirmed by a judge of the district court If the past due taxes are paid by the original owners, they keep the property. They have until the judge holds a confirmation hearing to redeem the property.If the property sells for more than the taxes and liens due, the balance of the funds revert to the original owners or heirs.
