It was a long week for the Superior Wildcats volleyball team. The team played six matches in four days going 4-2 over that stretch and watching a five match win streak come to an end.
Superior feasted on the Kenesaw Blue Devils, 25-14 and 25-19, in a two-set sweep of a home triangular match. They followed up with a two-set, 25-16 and 25-23, win over Doniphan-Trumbull. The Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles sank their talons into the Wildcats with their four-set, 25-18, 20-25, 25-10 and 25-18, win at Superior Thursday. The Wildcats swept Sandy Creek in two sets, 25-13 and 25-19, at the Sandy Creek Tournament Saturday. The Fillmore Central Panthers were two-set, 25-18 and 25-16, victims of Superior. Superior took the first set 25-22 from Meridian and then dropped the next two, 18-25 and 18-25, for their second loss of the season leaving them with a 7-2 record. The Sutton Fillies were in Superior Tuesday for match with results unavailable at press time.
Teegan Duncan led the Superior killers with eight against Kenesaw. Madison Heusinkvelt slammed down four kills. Lilly Edwards and Ella Gardner jammed down three kills each. Halle Bargen picked up two kills. Brooklyn Grabast and Atlee Kobza had a kill apiece. Kobza sliced through three aces. E. Gardner and Sadie Rempel added an ace apiece. Kobza hit the deck for nine digs. Duncan came up with seven digs. Bargen contributed five digs. E. Gardner landed three digs. Heusinkvelt had one dig.
Duncan topped the kill chart against Doniphan-trumbull with 10. Bargen came through with six kills. Edwards slammed in five kills. Grabast handed down four kills. Heusinkvelt made a kill. E. Gardner slipped through four aces. Heusinkvelt responded with two aces. Bargen and Duncan were good for an ace apiece. Kobza showed up for 14 digs. Bargen claimed 11 digs. E. Gardner closed out with eight digs. Duncan landed seven digs. Rempel listed four digs for the match.
Heusinkvelt was the lead killer against B-D-S with 10. Duncan put down nine kills. Bargen and Edwards added in four kills each. Kobza had one kill. Heusinkvelt had two serves for aces. Kobza had an axe. Kobza handled 23 digs. Duncan was engaged with 19 digs. Bargen was credited with 10 digs. Grabast posted seven digs. Edwards, Grabast and Heusinkvelt had a dig each.
Duncan was on top of the Wildcat kill chart against Sandy Creek with 11. Bargen accounted for seven kills. Heusinkvelt pounded down six kills. Grabast added three kills. Edwards gave the team two kills. Ariana Heusinkvelt had a kill. Bargen was responsible for all four Superior aces. Kobza cleared the floor with 14 digs. Duncan accounted for 10 digs. Bargen and Mia Gardner listed eight digs each. Mia Gardner gleaned five digs. M. Heusinkvelt had a dig.
Duncan was the lead killer at the net with 10 against Fillmore Central. Edwards and M. Heusinkvelt added five kills each. Bargen and Grabast provided three kills each. E. Gardner had a kill. M. Heusinkvelt nailed four aces. Kobza lashed through two aces. Duncan and E. Gardner land an ace each.
Bargen stepped up for 13 kills against Meridian. Duncan pounced for five kills. M. Heusinkvelt held down four kills. Gardner and Grabast added a kill each. M. Heusinkvelt threaded through two aces. E. Gardner had an ace. Kobza went all out for 27 digs. Bargen totaled up 17 digs. Duncan loaded up with 15 digs. E. Gardner created nine digs. Faith Butler and M. Gardner shoveled up four digs each. Grabast and Heusinkvelt added a dig apiece.
The Wildcats travel to Blue Hill Saturday for a triangular match with Alma and Blue Hill. Superior visits Fairbury Tuesday for a match with the Jeffs.
