Lawrence Sacred Heart Sewing Circle place first

Sewing Circle place first

The Lawrence Sacred Heart Sewing Circle quilters had to speed up their stitches to complete a quilt to be entered in the Nebraska State Fair. They were rewarded by placing first in the group, large, non-commercially quilted (NCQ) class.

A group entry is completed by three or more people. Large is defined as more than 300 inches around. NCQ means no money was exchanged for the quilting so it might be either hand or machine quilted.

The winning quilt features embroidered blocks from an unknown stitcher with teal, plum and white sashing that complements the embroidery colors. It will be part of the Sacred Heart Altar Society’s fall fundraiser.

Another entry with hand-quilting by the Sewing Circle placed second in the group, large, commercially quilted class. It was pieced and finished by Kay Theer who owns the quilt.
