Superior Municipal Airport parking lot project is underway
Workers from VanKirk Brothers are at work at the Superior Municipal Airport replacing the gravel driveway and parking lot.
The new parking lot will have 14 spaces, including a handicapped accessible spot, and will be lighted. It will be a concrete lot.
The driveway leading from Highway 14 to the terminal building is also being replaced with concrete.
It has taken almost a year since the project bid was let to see work begin.
The project is funded by the Federal Aviation Administration with funds raised by airport use fees.
The construction portion of the project is $263,000 while engineering fees top $107,000.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of next week weather permitting.
