Eleanor Rose (Postlewait) Scott, 88, went to eternity with our Lord and Savior on Aug. 20, 2022. She died at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kan. Born on Nov. 25, 1933. in Pueblo, Colo. Eleanor was the fifth child of seven and the second daughter of Cloyd C. and Mary M. Postlewait. Eleanor was a social little girl. This served her well as she moved around a lot with her family. Eventually they settled back in Pueblo. Eleanor attended elementary, middle and high school there. Although her family mostly lived on just enough to get by, and experienced some tragedies, she remembered many blessings.
Around 1957, Eleanor attended a technical school in Pueblo and became a LPN. Here she met Kennith Scott. Eleanor and Kennith married in 1958. Together they raised five children: Lee, Jim, Tammy, David and Robert in Tribune, Kan. Eleanor was mostly a stay-at-home mom, but she also babysat and worked as a volunteer EMT. She was involved in the First Baptist Church of Tribune, and she made sure her children were also.
Kennith and Eleanor moved their family to Atwood, Kan. in 1985. They lived there for 32 years. Eleanor was a proud founding member of The Atwood Baptist Church. She also served with the Silver-Haired Legislators, and traveled to the Capitol in Topeka, Kan.
Kennith died in 2016. In 2017, Eleanor moved to Jewell, Kan., where she lived the rest of her full life. Always the social butterfly, she quickly made many friends around the area. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Evangelical Church. As an active participant at the Wellness Center in Beloit, she enjoyed socializing with her exercise group. One of her favorite pastimes included having tea with her friends at The Merc.
In life Eleanor was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and sister. She leaves behind her surviving family, including 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. today (Thursday) Aug. 25, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Kleppinger Funeral Home, Jewell.
