Lovewell State Park hosted its annual Campground Christmas event on August 13. This year nine campsites participated, and all entries were competitive for the top three prizes.
Judges voted the Emma Bruns family of Fairmont as the first place winner with a maze of lights strung from tree to tree and inflatables throughout their campsite. Santa and Mrs. Claus greeted visitors with homemade cookies.
Susan Traeger and friends of Fairbury received the second place vote. Their campsite had a patriotic Christmas theme of red, white and blue decorations. They gifted passersby with small American flags.
The third place entry was Brian Everhart and family from Hastings with their Grinch themed campsite complete with family members dressed as Cindy Lou Who, Max the dog, and the Grinch.
It is estimated that more than 100 vehicles toured the park to view the decorated campsites.
