County board approves purchase of ballistic shields

The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met at the county courthouse in Nelson, Monday. All three commissioners were present.

The board approved an expenditure of up to $30,000 for the HSeriff’s departmenet to purchase ballistic shields and hemets with embedded communitication gear.

The board awarded contracts for three county road department projects. The contracts are for the installation of culverts at three sistes. Bauer Construction of Martell. The low bids for the three projects was $179,000.

Jim Bolte, county road foreman, reported 170 individuals brought used tires to the recycling event at the road department yard.

Susan Rogers, county assessor, presented the Board of Equalization with a list of county cemeteries.

The board will meet at 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Labor Day holiday moved the meeting date . The public is invited to attend budget hearings that day. There will be one 1t 8:30 a.m. and one at 11:30 a,m,.
