I have such great neighbors. I had a pile of tree limbs sitting out by the road. It seemed every chance we had to haul them off, it would rain, and we were unable to. One day, after work, I looked out, and the pile was gone. I asked Jacob if he had hauled them off; of course not! LOL! Another neighbor took the giant pile of rocks sitting in the back yard giving me anxiety. Maybe one day, I will get a chance to return the favor, or at the very least pay it forward.
Last Wednesday, after delivering papers, I came home to mow the yard. Usually, on Wednesdays, I do the grocery getting. So when I got home and saw Jacob was out mowing the yard, I was shocked. He asked why I was home, and I said, “to mow.” He said, “well, I was trying to surprise you!” I was definitely surprised! I wanted to ask who he was and what he had done with my son!
Please tell me I am not the only one running around with my low fuel light on more than not. I’ve almost run out of gasoline three times this week. Not necessarily because I can’t afford to put gasoline in the car, but because I keep forgetting to check, and when I do put gasoline in the car, I don’t fill it.
We have had more fun with vehicles this week. George and Jacob replaced the thermostat in his truck, a headlamp in my car and a battery in George’s vehicle. Next on the list are tires and a serpentine belt for Robert’s truck, tires, breaks and rotors on the spare car, and a tune-up for the family car. It’s looking like a used car lot here.
George and I took a little road trip this past week to near Lincoln to pick up a free, working hot tub. We broke it, fixable but broken nonetheless. That was an interesting trip. The woman who had listed it, refused to believe we would show up. She had had several folks interested in the thing, but no one would actually come to get it. We were the furthest out, and she was sure we would stand her up.
From the listing, I thought it was like our old one. It is similar, but it did not have solid sides, and the bottom frame was wood, sitting in a rock bed. As you can imagine, it was a little rotted. It took forever to get it home. We stopped I don’t know how many times to adjust it and tighten the straps holding it in. About halfway home, we stopped and completely changed how it was sitting in the truck bed. At this point, if it had fallen out of the bed, it was just going to stay where it fell. Anyway, it’s home, and so far, the damage is minimal. Hopefully, we can get it back together soon.
Dad took us out on the boat Saturday. It was a nice relaxing day. Just what I needed, no cell service, just peace and quiet, family and a couple of good friends. Dad will probably never take George out again, as he had to watch him catch fish while he kept losing his bait. LOL! X’s & O’s.
