Another hot Friday evening for ECCC couples golf league

It was another hot Friday evening in Nelson at the Elk Creek Country Club golf course. The die-hard golfers braved the heat and survived!  Perhaps because the course was so dry the golf balls really bounced and rolled or because of the play format this week, but scores seemed a little lower.

The women teed off on the even holes and the guys on the odd holes.  Royce and Brenda Schott had a low net score of 32 this week and Dorrel Lipker and Molly D. had a high gross score of only 49.  Five teams only had 3 over par for the most over this week.  Dorrel Lipker had the longest putt on No. 2 at 224.”  Jerry Bargen and Hunter Holland were equally close to the 150 yard marker with their drives, and Jim Farmer chipped onto the No. 9 green only 10” from the hole.

Thus the standings after 8 weeks of competition:

Richard and Verlene Watson earned both points this week giving them a total of 12 and in first place alone.

Cody and Crystal Wyatt only earned 1 1/2 points this week giving them 11 1/2 for second place. Right behind them is Craig German and Cindy Hewitt with 11 points.

Moving into fourth place with their two additional points are Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher with 8 1/2 points.

Tying for fifth place with eight points are Joe Harwell and Jenny Simmons and Jim and Mary Farmer.

Tied for seventh place with 7 1/2 points are Ken and Jan Rempe and Coke and Cindy Troudt.

In a 3-way tie for ninth place with 6 1/2 points are: Rod and Sue Burge, Hunter Holland and Emily Wulf and Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle.

Followed by Richard P. and Heather Watson with six points, then Royce and Brenda Schott with five points and finally  Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe with 3 1/2 points.

After play, the group gathered at the club house to cool down and have supper.

Friday evening everyone will tee off from the women’s tee boxes and then play the usual scramble.

Hopefully it won’t be quite so hot!
