Alvin L. Schott

Alvin L. Schott, the son of Franklin "LeRoy" and Reta (Williams) Schott, was born on March 11, 1939, in Superior, Neb. He died on July 11, 2022, at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior at the age of 83 years 4 months and 0 days.

Alvin attended school in Nelson, graduating from Nelson High School with the Class of 1957. He married Judy Allene Langer on Sept. 6, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Superior. This union was blessed with three children: Sandra, Susan and Sheri.

Alvin loved to fix up cars and was a mechanic on race cars with Larry Thornberry and Jim Lynch. He also enjoyed taking his girls water skiing at the lake. He worked for his Dad (LeRoy) and Grandpa (Franklin) Schott. Alvin and his Dad (LeRoy) built Schott Oil Company in 1962. Alvin bought out his Dad (LeRoy) after his Dad retired in 1980. Over the next 26 years with his brother Royce and several family members, Alvin ran the station until he sold it to Mike Stichka in 2006. Then Alvin mowed for the City of Nelson from 2007 until 2016. Alvin was a member of the Nelson Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, from 1967 until 1993 and also the Pleasure Cruisers for many years, where he showed off his talents, the 1968 Chevy Purple Pickup.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin "LeRoy" and Reta Schott; and his brother, Richard "Dick" Schott.

Survivors include his wife, Judy; three daughters: Sandra (Ronald) Schendt of Nelson, Neb., Susan (Cameron) Trombley of Raleigh, N.C. and Sheri (Robert "Art") Watts of Colorado Springs, Colo .; five grandchildren: Lance Schendt, Deidre Nielsen, Camron Watts, Travis Watts and Alyssa Watts; one great-grandson, Carter Nielsen; siblings: Barb Fitchett of Lincoln, Neb., and Royce (Brenda) Schott of Nelson; sister-in-law, Anita Schott of Lincoln, Neb .; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, July 23, at the Nelson Cemetery in Nelson, by Pastor Ivan and Joyce Dean.

Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery.
