Jewell City Council

The Jewell City Council met in July 5, at City Hall. Those in attendance were Darrell Bohnert, mayor, council members, Josh Burks, Max Burks, Gaye Daniels, Bob Freeman, Derek Birdsell and Kristie Anderson, city clerk.

James Reed, code enforcement officer, was present. Reed presented his report for the month of May. He continues to work with property owners to abate nuisances.

The Land Bank Board provided the minutes from their last two meetings.

Kristie Anderson presented the monthly clerk’s report. Anderson gave an update on the community center and motel reservation for the month of July. Anderson discussed that the city audits are all up to date and current. She provided the reports to the council members to review.

David Knappert was absent but provided a written report for the monthly maintenance report. He notified the projects he is currently working on. Knappert provided his plans for the streets. He mentioned repairing two 4 inch water main valves.

Anderson presented the Jewell Library updated budget. The board approved it.

Bohnert discussed the truck ordinance that was approved. Reed mentioned sending out letters to the residents that have trucks parked off the truck routes and giving them until Jan. 1, 2023 to relocate their trucks parking spots that are accessible to truck route streets only.

Anderson presented the TRF Loan Payment which was approved. Bohnert mentioned continuing the sidewalk on the north east side of the park. He said the city should start charging services for mowing vacant lots.
