Seven members of the Rock Hills FBLA chapter went to Chicago, June 29 through July 2 for the National Leadership Conference. While at the conference, members competed in events. In order to compete, they had
to qualify at the state competition in late March. Members attending were Hanna Simmelink, Intro to FBLA; Jacob Barry, AgBusiness; Kit Wagner, Securities and Investments; Daniel McDill, Web Design; Jacob Underwood, Electronic Career Portfolio; Aaron Underwood, Business Plan; Davin Coil, Broadcast Journalism. Jacob Underwood and Coil also represented the chapter presenting the local chapter annual business report.
Preliminary presentations were given on June 30, and two of the five
presentations were named as finalists: business plan and local chapter annual business report, making them both a Top Twelve in the nation.
At the awards ceremony on July 1, Hannah Simmelink was announced as
earning seventh in the Intro to FBLA competition. On July 2, the chapter’s local chapter annual business report and presentation was announced as earning a fifth place spot. Unfortunately, Jacob and Davin were not able to accept their fifth place award in person as the chapter returned to Mankato on the morning of July 2. However, it was exciting to watch the awards presentation on-line and hear that Rock Hills was fifth in the nation in local chapter annual business report. This is an award for the entire chapter as the report and presentation reflect everything the entire chapter completed throughout the year.
