Charles John (Hank) Greenberg died May 23, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings. Burial was at 11 a.m., Monday, in the Jamestown city cemetery.
Charles was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Belleville, to Chester M. and Phebe Flinn Greenberg. He attended grade school in Randall, until his family moved to Haddam, in 1954. He graduated from Haddam High School in the Class of 1961.
He was united in marriage to Loretta Ross on June 21, 1967, in Dakota City, Neb.
Hank left home the day after high school graduation for Ak-Sar-Ben in Omaha where he pursued a dream of being a jockey. He accomplished this and rode for several years on the Nebraska, West Virginia and Florida circuits until his health no longer would allow.
Hank was preceded in death by his son, Michael John; his parents; mother-in-law, Iola Grubbs; sisters: Collette Mae (John) Young and Ida (Dennis) Luckey; brothers-in-law: Gerald Ross, Rod Blake, Francis Lammerding, John Young and Dennis Luckey.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Loretta; sisters, Bette Lammerding (Marvin Schlatter) of Marysville, Kan., Vicki (Steve) Weber of Canon City, Colo.; brother, Chester (Patty) Greenberg of Concordia; sister-in-law, Katheryn Blake, Burr Oak; plus many nieces, nephews and friends.
