With the July 4th holiday almost at hand, it is time for community celebrations.
This issue of The Express contains pictures taken at both Edgarfest and Chesterfest. It was a special time in Edgar as the community was celebrating the 150th birthday of its founding. Depending upon the space available both in this week's edition and the one published next week, pictures from those events may be published in both.
We don't know if it was by plan or accident but the Superior and Nelson communities have arranged their Independence celebrations in such a way that area residents will be able to attend the celebrations in both communities.
Most of the Nelson activities are scheduled for Sunday. The day will begin at 7:30 with breakfast and fun runs and continues through out the day. There will be a free swim from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Nelson Swimming Pool. The cardboard boat race is planned for 4:30. The day will conclude with a free fireworks show at sundown.
On Monday Nelson activities center around the golf course.
A separate story in this issue reports on the activities that will be held in Superior on Monday.
Once again the Lovewell Lake fireworks show that used to be held as part of the July 4th holiday will be part of the Labor Day holiday.
The Burr Oak community has special activities scheduled for Sunday evening.
At Jewell the activities will be held at Emerson Lake on Sunday.
