1970's Boss 429 Mustang

Many of us have that one thing we are crazy about and collect. It can be hard to make our family and friends understand why we are so crazy about it. My brother-in-law collects vintage t-shirts and sneakers, my husband collects toys and comic books, and my dad collects coins. For Leroy Johnson of Angus, cars are his thing. He has more than a dozen on his farm, and his recent purchase has the community all a buzz.
For collectors, there are few Mustangs as highly prized as the Boss 429, as only 499 were built. The car was originally designed to compete in NASCAR against Ford's competitors and was not marketed well, leading to few sales. The Boss was produced for only two years before being dropped by the company, thus making this Mustang the "holy grail" for collectors.
This particular Mustang was collecting dust for decades parked in a barn near Sumner, Neb. Butch Siebenaler owned hundreds of vehicles, including many rare muscle cars. When he died unexpectedly last summer, his collection was sent to auction. When Leroy heard this particular car was being sold, he knew he had to have it.
Leroy won the bidding war on Thursday and brought his prize home, and what a prize she is. Honestly, I'm a little green with envy.
