Two teams are tied for first place during summer golf league
Friday evening the Couples Summer Golf League met at the Elk Creek Country Club in Nelson for round two of competition.
It was again a beautiful evening, but the scores seemed a little higher this week. Thus the handicaps went up a little.
Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle had a low net score of 37 and Royce and Brenda Schott had a high gross score of 55. They also had the most over with a 9 on the par 4 No. 6. Cindy Troudt had the longest putt on No. 2 at 66". Rod Burge's drive on No. 7 was the closest to the 150' marker and Brenda Schott chipped onto No. 9 only 24" from the hole.
This week the women did all of the putting. Cindy Hewitt and Sally Uhrmacher each had the fewest putts with 15 and Jenny Simmons had the most putts with 27.
The standings after the second week are:
Earning 2 points this week, the teams of Cody and Crystal Wyatt and Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher are tied for first place with 4 points.
Jim and Mary Farmer earned 1 1/2 points this week giving them 3 1/2 points for third place.
Tied for fourth place with 3 points are the teams of Ken and Jan Rempe and Craig German and Cindy Hewitt.
Tying for sixth place with 2 points are the teams of Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle, Richard and Verlene Watson and Rod and Sue Burge.
Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe earned half of a point this week putting them in ninth place.
Tying for tenth place, and still waiting to earn any points, are the teams of Royce and Brenda Schott, Coke and Cindy Troudt and Joe Harwell and Jenny Simmons.
Again the group gathered at the club house for grilled hamburgers. The extra sides were brought in, including homemade ice cream furnished by Richard and Verlene. They were celebrating their birthdays and 53rd wedding anniversary.
Next week the men will be doing all of the putting with the option of putting either hole.
