Friday evening the Couples Summer Golf League launched the opening event at the Elk Creek Country Club in Nelson.
It was a beautiful evening, as the scores indicated. The team of Craig German and Cindy Hewitt came in with a perfect game of par 35. Jim and Mary Farmer came in with a low net score of 30!
Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe had a high gross score of 53 and Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle had to take a 9 on the par 5 No. 4 for the most over.
Flag prizes went to the women this week! Cindy Hewitt’s drive on No. 1 was the closest to the 100 yard marker. Crystal Wyatt’s drive on No. 3 was the closest to the green but not on. Jenny Simmon’s drive on No. 5 was the shortest drive used.
The standings after the first round placed six teams in a tie for first with 2 points:
Cody and Crystal Wyatt; Rod and Sue Burge; Ken and Jan Rempe; Craig German and Cindy Hewitt; Jerry Bargen and Sally Uhrmacher and Jim and Mary Farmer.
The other six teams didn’t earn any points this week, but there’s still plenty of time for them to make their move.
Joe Harwell and Jenny Simmons; Chuck and DeAnna Tuttle; Royce and Brenda Schott; Richard and Verlene Watson; Dorrel Lipker and Carla Jeardoe and Coke and Cindy Troudt.
Later everyone met at the club house for the grilled hamburgers and all of the extra sides that were brought in.
Next week’s format will be: The Women doing all of the putting with the option of putting either hole.
