The Superior Municipal Swimming Pool is scheduled to open Friday at 11:30 a.m.
Seth Going, pool manager, reported the leak under the southwest corner of the pool deck had been repaired by city workers and the pool was set to be filled in anticipation of the opening. The pump room underwent a major cleanup. New water heaters have been installed in both dressing rooms by Scott Sales and Service of Superior. Fresh paint is evident in many places. The staff has been deep cleaning the office and admission area in preparation for the season opening.
Bev Czirr, long-time pool manager, is serving as a consultant to Going as he undertakes his first season as pool manager. They expect to have a minimum of eight lifeguards on staff.
Lap swim is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is for adult swimmers. Open swim and private swim lessons are from 1 to 4:45 p..m. Open swim is from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. All hours are dependent upon weather conditions.
Swim lesson sessions will be offered in two segments. The first session will run from June 20 to July 1. The second session will be offered from July 18 to July 29.
The spike in chlorine prices has led to the first admission price hike in many years. Season passes are $150 for a family of four. A single person pass is $100. Punch cards are also available in various denominations. Single admission is three dollars per session.
