L-N track has state qualifiers

When the District D-6 boys and girls track and field meet at Sandy Creek ended Thursday, several members of the Lawrence-Nelson teams had secured a trip to the Harry A. Burke Stadium in Omaha for the state meet Friday and Saturday.

The Raiders competed against teams from Axtell, Deshler, Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Blue Hill, Kenesaw, Red Cloud, Harvard, Wilcox-Hildreth, Harvard, Silver Lake and Franklin.

The boys team held eighth place with 22 points. The girls took third place with 58 points.

Emma Epley qualified for three events: the long jump, triple jump and the 100 meter hurdles. Elsa Jorgensen made the state meet in the long jump. Sydney Biltoft will compete in the 100 and 300 meter hurdles at Omaha. Kara Menke will represent the Raiders in the 400 meter dash.

Logan Menke qualified in the 1600 meter run. Tyson Kotinek, Nolan Ostdiek, Devyn Zikmund and Menke qualified as the 4 x 800 meter relay team.

Epley finished in second place in the long jump with her distance of 15’11.25”. Jorgensen rolled up third place with her leap of 15’10.75”. Brook Combs had a jump 10’8”.

Epley secured second place in the triple jump with her distance of 33’.25”.

Aleah Heikkinen had best discus throw of 89’11” to take seventh place.

Kylie Beard had a toss of 32’11.5’ in the shot put.

Epley sped to a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles with her time of 15.94 seconds. Biltoft was in third place with her time of 16.13 seconds.

Katelyn Mazour recorded a preliminary heat time of 14.11 seconds of the 100 meter dash. Combs had a preliminary heat time of 16.25 seconds.

Addison McCloskey has a 400 meter dash time of 1:22.38.

Jessica Sole earned a fifth place finish for the 300 meter run.

Biltoft grabbed third place in the 300 meter hurdles with her time of 49.17 seconds.

Emily Troudt was in ninth place in the 1600 meter run with her time of 7:40.19.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Biltoft, Jorgensen, Menke and Heikkinen finished in third place with their time of 4:33.42,.

Keaton Mazour had a best throw of 101’7” in the discus.

Keaton Mazour had a toss of 37’11” for the shot put. Sawyer Cox had a toss of 33’9.25’.

Carter Griffis ran a preliminary 110 meter hurdles heat of 19.76 seconds.

Erik Wheeland had a 100 meter preliminary heat time of 12.25 seconds. Roy Davidson had a heat of 16.08 seconds.

Zikmund earned the fifth place points in the 400 meter dash with his time of 56.29 seconds..

Kotinek had preliminary heat time of 26.15 seconds for the 200 meter dash. Cox listed a heat of 29.56 seconds.

Ostdiek had an eighth place finish in the 800 meter run with his time of 2:21.3.

The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kotinek, Ostdiek, Wheeland and Zikmund finished in third place with their time of 4:07.53.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of L. Menke, Ostdiek, Kotinek and Zikmund qualified for the state meet with their time of 8:59.53.

The taste meet gets underway Friday at the Harry A. Burke High School stadium. Field events began at 9a.m. while the running get underway at 1:30 p.m.
