Superior Public Schools hosted the district track meet, Thursday. The weather forecast indicated strong thunderstorms might move through the area late in the afternoon, so officials started the District C-7 track meet an hour early. Around five p.m. storm sirens sounded in Hastings, High winds damaged grain handling facilities in Clay Center and fierce looking storm clouds rolled into Superior. In response, competition stopped for a bit more than an hour while spectators and competitors waited out the storm in the gymnasium. The weather cleared and the track competition was finalized.
