The Nebraska Knights of Columbus held it 117th Annual State Convention in Kearney last weekend, April 22, 23 and 24.
Attending the event were St. Stephen Council 1906 Grand Knights, Mike Buescher; Deputy Grand Knight, Jerry Karmazin, Chaplain, Rev. Corey Harrison and Allen and Nancy Ostdiek.
This 2022 Convention was the first ‘in-person’ convention held since the COVID Pandemic started.
During the Awards Night dinner, St. Stephen Council 1906 was recognized and received the Division 4, 2nd place award for Publicity.
Numerous awards for numerous charitable projects were announced as a testament to the Knights living up to their objective of being ‘Charitable in Unity with its church with Fraternity toward all.”
Among the state wide fund raising drive, the state officers announced the ‘Vocation Raffle’ raised approximately $140,000 this year. This was a state record for the organization and the funds will be distributed between all the seminarians for the three Catholic dioceses across Nebraska as well as money to the dioceses.
