Love my crazy life

Sometimes I get the desire to look more put together. Not often, but it happens. I recently purchased a couple of sundresses, thinking I might wear one to graduation. Last weekend I was shopping and found another dress, and so I showed George and asked his opinion. He said, and I quote, “Better be careful. People might start thinking you’re a girl!” I shook my head and said, “We wouldn’t want that now, would we!”

I know it’s strange, but I feel more comfortable covered in dirt, drywall mud and paint than I do with makeup, hairspray and coordinating attire. I’ve always been that way; getting elbow-deep into something I love gives me a feeling of self-worth that an hour in front of a mirror never has. For those who spend the time in front of the mirror, you have my utmost respect. I don’t have the patience for it. I can style someone else’s hair all day long and never get tired of it, but when it comes to my own, well we all know what I look like day-to-day. LOL!

I think the hubby thought he was getting lucky since I was such a minimum maintenance kind of gal. Little did he know my skincare regimen costs more every year than the upkeep on an 18-wheeler! LOL! I may not wear makeup, but I try to keep my skin healthy and looking nice. My hobbies are also kind of pricy, I’ve been told no more big projects. Time will tell, wink, wink!

He’s not so minimum maintenance himself. He collects! He is big into Transformers and Star Wars and recently acquired a Money Pit of his own. An old car he plans to restore. Don’t ask me the year, make or model. I can’t remember. I’m an old house enthusiast, not a car person. I’m happy he is happy, and I am looking forward to working on it with him, as long as my house gets finished first!

He seems to think I can do the upholstery. He has more faith in me than I do. I can sew, I can quilt, but upholstery! That’s a different game altogether. I’ll give the good ‘ole college try. Who knows, maybe I’ll be good at it. X’s & O’s.
